Edit Trip

This is a brief look at some basic features offered by TripLog in regards to Editing or changing Trips.

Expand and collapse: You may have noticed that by clicking on the days you can expand or collapse trips, but you can also expand all or collapse all from the daily menu button.

Daily Map View: A cool feature meant to help solve the confusing delude of trips is the daily map view. By pressing on this Google map icon it will take you to a screen displaying all the stops and routes you took on that day. This is very helpful when you want to recall the details of a past trip or, If you’re like me, and you go for a few days not checking your trips and you need to remember what those trips are.

Name Location: The app records trip stops with GPS latitude and longitude coordinates, and translates to street address if there is an Internet connection. Now, you can change those addresses to names making you trip timeline much easier to read. For example this is “HOME” and this is “BUSINESS CENTER”. The app will use those names next time you visit the same place.

Change activity: The fastest and easiest way to change a trip activity for example “personal to business” on the trips screen, is by pressing the activity circle on the trip bars and choose one of the activities from the popup menu.

Add activity: If you want to customize your activities, go to business activities in the main menu and now you’ll see a list of all the current activities you have. Press the plus button to add a new one, for example, ‘Second Business’. Or press an existing activity to edit it.

Mileage Lock: You can edit a trip by simply pressing on the trip bar. Everything about a trip is available to edit from this screen. One thing I want to talk about is the Mileage Lock switch. It locks the trip mileage when you change the starting or ending odometer, rather than changing the mileage.

Tags and notes: Now this is very important because if you are ever audited, the IRS requires the odometer reading and business justification of each trip. Notes are for long descriptions of the trips, and the Tags are usually shorter. A nice feature of tags is that the app can recall previously entered tags for easy entry.

TripLog Android Widget

Welcome to Triplog’s Widget tutorial. Today we are going to go through how to add a Triplog widget to your android phone and some advantages widgets can offer.
There are many advantages to having a Triplog widget on your phone. People who choose Manual Start can use the widget for faster and easier tracking, instead of opening the app to press the start and stop button. Automatic mileage tracking users also see an advantage by being able to use the widget to quickly check the status of a trip.
Triplog has 3 different widgets you can choose from, 1×1, 2×2, 4×1 each built for it’s own type of user in mind.
1×1: is a simplistic minimalist design, for those who want just a start and stop button.
2×2: Display’s more information and has the ability to let you change your trips activity, as-well-as when tracking it can display the running mileage and speed. This is made for users wanting live status visual’s.
4×1: has more functionality, giving you the ability to capture fuel expense and transactions.

Adding a Triplog widget to your phone can be done in 3 easy steps
Step 1: Make sure you have enough visual space for a widget; select a blank part of the screen press and hold down on the screen. The screen should change and a widget button should pop up.
Step 2: selecting the widget button will take you to an alphabetical listing of your apps, scroll down to the “T’s” for TripLog and pick out which TripLog widget you want
Step 3: Press and hold down on your selected widget and you can drag the widget be holding down and sliding it across the screen, drop it on the part of the screen you want the widget located by letting go. A screen will pop up asking you if you want the widget to display your current trip mileage or your odometer, select whichever one suits you best.

To manually start a trip, just simply press the green start button. If you choose one of the autostart options the widget will automatically show you the current running trip. We can see, on the 2×2 widget that when we push the start trip button the activity section changes to display your speed. Use the pause button to stop GPS tracking and save the phone battery when you are in a rest area without stopping the current trip, thus creating separate ones. When you hit stop an edit trip screen will pop up. The edit trip screen provides you with a summary of the trip, giving you an opportunity to change the activity, add notes, record tolls, etc… Hit save in the top right hand corner and you’re done.
That concludes the Triplog widget tutorial

Route Planning

Route planning is a TripLog feature built on Google maps, that allows you to create optimal routes between multiple destinations; up to 8 stops. This means you can enter in a series of destinations and stops and the app will generate the best route between all of them.

How it works:
It starts from your current location and loops back as a round trip. You begin to add other destinations and stops you plan to visit and the app will plan a completely optimized route for you.

Route planning can be found on the main navigation menu. It will take you to a screen showing recently visited locations and the locations you’ve already named on the top for easy selection. The app will automatically set your current location as the starting point and ending point, so there is no need to select it. To add locations not on the list, simply press on the plus icon on the blue bar. You can add an address and name it. To plan the route, select the stops from the list and when you’re done press the upward arrow button at the bottom of the screen. It will switch to the Google Maps, and be ready to start navigation.

Company Address Book

TripLog is packed with features for Enterprise users. One of our unique features is the ability to upload a company address book, such as a list of customers or office buildings to visit, and share it with everyone on your team. So next time, a driver goes to one of the known places, the app will pick up the preloaded location. If one of the employees visits a new customer and saves the location, that place will be shared among others. It’s a nice feature to consolidate the locations and make the reports easier to read.
