    TripLog for Accountants is a set of features within TripLog Web Dashboard designed for use by accountants to easily keep track of their client’s business mileage and transactions. The goal of this article is to provide a step-by-step guide for setting up and mastering the TripLog for Accountants features.

    Initial Setup

    Before setting up TripLog for accountants, you will need to sign up for an account with TripLog. If you do not already have an account with TripLog, please click here to register an account.

    Setup for Accountants

    If you are an accountant who wants to keep track of your client’s business mileage and transactions using TripLog, please first register an account with TripLog if you have not already done so, then follow these instructions:

    1. Please sign in to https://triplogmileage.com/ and navigate to the TripLog Web Dashboard by clicking ‘Dashboard’.

    2. Once there, please click ‘TripLog for Accountants’ in the top right corner. You should then see the following pop-up:

    3. Click ‘Invite Clients’

    4. Enter your client’s first name, last name, and email address in the appropriate fields

    5. If you would like to send a custom subject line and email content to your client to explain why you want them to use TripLog for Accountants, you may do so by entering the subject line and content in the circled fields below:

    6. Press ‘Send Invite’ to invite the client to TripLog

    7. Upon receiving the email, the client will be presented with a link to register a new TripLog account (or log in to TripLog if they already have an account)

    8. By clicking the ‘ACCEPT’ or ‘Login’ buttons, the client will be prompted to register or log in to connect their TripLog account with your account and enable the TripLog for Accountants features. They should see the yellow banner on this page as shown in the screenshot

    Setup for Clients

    If you are a business owner who wants to use TripLog to track business mileage and transactions and seamlessly connect with your accountant, please first register an account with TripLog if you have not already done so, then follow these instructions:

    1. Please sign in to https://triplogmileage.com/ and navigate to the TripLog Web Dashboard by clicking ‘Dashboard’.

    2. Once there, please click ‘TripLog for Accountants’ in the top right corner. You should then see the following pop-up:

    4. Enter your accountant’s first name, last name, and email address in the appropriate fields

    5. If you would like to send a custom subject line and email content to your accountant to explain why you want them to use TripLog for Accountants, you may do so by entering the subject line and content in the circled fields below:

    6. Press ‘Send Invite’ to invite your accountant to TripLog. Upon receiving the email, your accountant will be presented with a link to register a new TripLog account (or log in to TripLog if they already have an account) and connect their account with your account to enable the TripLog for Accountants features. The email and link will be very similar to those described in step 7 and 8 in the ‘Setup for Accountants’ section. The accountant should see a similar yellow banner when they register or log in (see  ‘Setup for Accountants’ section)

    Using TripLog for Accountants

    Accessing Your Client’s Data

    With TripLog For Accountants, you can access, edit, and create data for your clients. To access your client’s account, please log in to https://triplogmileage.com/, then click on the name of your organization at the top of the screen. A drop down menu should appear listing your client’s organizations (see below).

    You can then click on your client’s organization to navigate in to their account. Once in your client’s account, you can act on their behalf to edit and add trips and transactions as well as generate reports for your clients. More information on editing/creating data and generating reports can be found in other help articles.

    Billing

    TripLog for Accountants is free for the accountant. However, depending on the agreement you make with your client, you can pay for the client’s TripLog account or the client can pay for their own account. To set which account will be paying for the client’s TripLog subscription, please log in to to https://triplogmileage.com/, then navigate to the billing page under Manage > Billing. Upon navigating to the page, you will be presented with a page similar to the following:

    If you would like to pay for your client’s account, please set ‘Paid by Me’ for the client to ‘YES’. If you would like the client to pay for their own TripLog account, please set ‘Paid by Me’ to ‘NO’.
